Get to know the role:

The role involves assisting the Halal Meat Specialist in effectively managing the retail section as a profitable center. The focus is on ensuring consistent customer satisfaction, maintaining product quality, increasing sales and margins, and reducing wastage. This is accomplished through the implementation of a well-structured training program designed to enhance the skills of department staff, leading to improved displays, freshness, and service-oriented operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational (Outlets/Production):

  • Ensure efficient management of the department according to established standards.

  • Uphold adherence to SOP standards to achieve departmental quality levels.

  • Maintain strict control and upkeep of operating equipment and supplies.

  • Adopt a "hands-on" approach in production to prevent malpractices.

  • Ensure adherence to established standards in product preparation/production.

  • Maintain consistent merchandise handling standards.

  • Reinforce standards in preparation areas, item quality, display, equipment usage, freshness, hygiene, maintenance, and cleanliness.

  • Audit products for quality, freshness, appearance, packaging, and price labeling.

  • Verify that received raw materials meet quality standards.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Halal Meats for the introduction of new items.

  • Provide staff with suitable working environments, tools, and knowledge for efficiency.

  • Gather regular customer feedback via Sales & Marketing to ensure product satisfaction.

  • Ensure subordinates provide courteous and professional service to all customers.

  • Attend meetings as required by superiors.

Costing & Inventory Control:

  • Minimize wastage through proper utilization of trimmings.

  • Coordinate stocktake activities according to Cost Control schedules, ensuring accuracy.

  • Achieve monthly Disposal Targets.

  • Maintain accurate disposal records.

Administration:

  • Prepare weekly reports on losses, breakages, and abnormalities.

  • Recommend promotional items and weekly activities.

  • Document and resolve incidents, complaints, and requests.

Hygiene, Housekeeping & Maintenance:

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in all sections, including front and back areas.

  • Oversee repairs and servicing, maintaining communication with outlet managers/technicians.

  • Enforce good hygiene practices among all staff members.

Training & Development:

  • Assist in identifying training needs and plan programs for subordinates.

  • Conduct training sessions based on the training plan to enhance subordinates' skills.

  • Ensure subordinates understand and adhere to established Work Standards & SOPs.

  • Monitor daily performance and recommend re-training when necessary.

  • Ensure subordinates comprehend and adhere to company employment rules.

  • Promote friendly and professional customer interactions.

Staff Related Matters:

  • Ensure subordinates maintain high personal appearance and hygiene standards.

  • Manage subordinates to maintain high productivity levels.

  • Uphold correct standards and service methods within the department.

  • Monitor monthly shift schedules and daily work schedules to ensure adequate staffing.

  • Ensure subordinates work with high productivity daily.

  • Stay reachable and maintain effective communication during absences.

Reports:

  • Prepare reports as requested by superiors in a timely manner, including weekly outlet visit reports and others if needed.

Ad-Hoc:

  • Undertake additional duties as required by superiors within or outside the department.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in a retail or food production environment is preferred.

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.

  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and customer service principles.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Leadership qualities with the ability to guide and develop subordinates.

  • Proficiency in training and development programs.
