Get to know the role:
The HR Generalist will work very closely with the HRBP Manager to serve as the primary HR partner for retail outlets across all Northern regions (Penang and Ipoh). This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of the end-to-end employee lifecycle, maintaining healthy industrial relations, and driving learning initiatives to uplift the service standards of our front-line retail heroes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Industrial Relations (IR) & Employee Relations (ER)
Grievance Handling: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances within the region, ensuring timely and compliant resolution in accordance with the Employment Act, and collaborating closely with the HQ Industrial Relations (IR) team on any required follow-up actions.
Disciplinary Management: Facilitating and coordinating disciplinary processes, including issuing Show Cause Letters, domestic inquiries (DI), and managing terminations or PIPs.
Compliance: Ensure all outlets in the North remain compliant with local labor laws and Jaya Grocer’s internal policies.
Engagement: Organize regional engagement activities to boost morale and foster a "Growth and Teamwork" culture among retail staff.

2. Learning & Development (L&D)
Training Needs Analysis (TNA): Identify skill gaps in retail staff (Cashiers, Fresh Market Assistants, Floor Staff) specific to regional challenges and partner with the HQ Learning & Development team to address them.
Training Execution: Coordinate and facilitate the Fast Track Programme and other skill-based training (e.g., customer service excellence, SOP compliance).
New Joiner Orientations: Facilitate and monitor regional HR induction for new hires, ensuring alignment with Jaya Grocer’s core values throughout the employee lifecycle.
Facilitate quarterly outlet briefing for the rules, guidelines, SOP for each outlet in the Northern region.

3. End-to-End Employee Lifecycle
Talent Acquisition: Support high-volume recruitment for new store openings, existing vacancies, and seasonal hiring peaks in the Northern region.
Onboarding / Offboarding: Manage the seamless entry and exit of employees, including documentation and exit interviews.
Performance Management: Assist in the annual appraisal process and ensure store managers are providing constructive feedback to their teams.
Manpower Planning: Monitor attrition rates and provide regional insights to the HQ team to optimize manpower across various outlets.

4. Reporting & Analytics
Monitor and analyse key HR metrics, including attrition rates, and employees survey to identify trends and recommend actionable improvements.
Monitor and maintain HR dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
Conduct analysis related to Industrial Relations (IR), market benchmarking, and Talent Acquisition effectiveness.
Support HR planning and strategic initiatives by providing insights derived from workforce data.
Partner with the HRBP Manager and key stakeholders to strengthen HR processes, optimize workforce planning, and drive the overall people strategy.

You should have:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of HR generalist experience, ideally within the Retail, F&B, or FMCG industry.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of the Malaysian Employment Act.
Familiarity with IR procedures and L&D coordination.
Proficiency in HRIS (E.g: Rymnet) and Google (Docs, Slides, Sheet, Gmail, Looker, etc).
Soft Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
High emotional intelligence (EQ) to manage a diverse, decentralized workforce.
Willingness to travel frequently across the assigned region (Northern Region).
